Many people think that all diving fins are open heeled fins, but that is not necessarily the case. While it is true that many divers prefer open heel fins, it is more because it allows divers to wear their own booties so that they can manage the cold water better. Many kinds of fins come in both styles. Another difference between diving fins and snorkeling fins is that diving fins are longer, allowing you to swim more easily. The extra length of the fins allows divers to move the extra weight (oxygen bottles and other equipment) through the water at pace.
