Longboards are widely used for long distances and you can go faster with a longboard than with a normal skateboard. There are different disciplines when it comes to longboarding and each discipline has a different type of longboard. At Decahtlon we have different sizes and it is very personal what length someone rides. The difference between a skateboard and a longboard is mainly the length of the board and the size of the wheels. A longboard has larger wheels, making it easier to reach a high speed. Longboard Parts

A longboard consists of different parts and you can buy these parts separately. The wheels of a board can wear out with regular use and it is therefore important to change them if necessary. You can also change the deck or board or plank you are standing on and the deck is available in different lengths and decks are available with a different stiffness. Finally, the trucks determine the angle of rotation of the wheels and the looser the trucks, the easier it is to steer.

If you want to start longboarding, it doesn't matter which style you want to use. It is first important to discover which style suits you and the more often you ride the faster you will discover which style suits you best. In the Netherlands there are few possibilities for downhill riding, so a longboard is often used for cruising through the city or as an alternative means of transport.
