TECHNICAL INFORMATIONS

Are there any particular safety precautions to take when using the Town 7XL scooter?

You should always wear protective equipment (helmet, knee pads and elbow pads) when scootering.

Most serious accidents take place during the first few months of use: spend time learning the basics so that you can control your speed and brake in emergency situations in all weather conditions. Stop use when the ground becomes slippery.

What is the glide quality like on the Oxelo Town 7 XL?

We have equipped this adult scooter with large 200 mm high bounce PU rubber wheels. This makes it ideal for any journey. A large wheel makes it easier to build up speed with minimum effort.
The ABEC 5 bearings are very high quality to limit the amount you have to push yourself along, as well as limiting fatigue.

How should you maintain your scooter?

The wheels and bearings are wearing parts. Remember to check them occasionally and change them if necessary.

You can repair and extend the lifespan of your scooter with spare parts that can be ordered through your local Decathlon store's Workshop.

Suspension for comfort

To meet your needs and provide maximum user comfort, the Town 7 XL is equipped with two suspension systems: One at the front and one at the rear.
These suspension systems greatly reduce the discomfort caused by uneven roads or pavements.

Brakes and mudguard: handy for town

The Town 7 XL scooter from Oxelo has a brake on the handlebar and a second brake on the back wheel. This second brake comes in the form of a long mudguard that covers much of the wheel.

How much does the Town 7 XL scooter weigh?

5.6 kg.

What safety precautions should you take?

We recommend checking your scooter before and after each ride to ensure that there is no abnormal play and no cracks or sharp edges. The wheels and bearings are wearing parts. Remember to check them and change them if necessary.

What should you do if there's play in the handlebar?

What with bumps in the road, repeated jarring and vibrations, it's normal for certain parts to come loose.
You can have all of the screws tightened at your local Decathlon workshop or do so yourself with the Allen keys provided (designed to fit all of the scooter's parts).

How are our products tested?

All of our scooters have been lab tested. These tests validate their compliance with the European standards for scooters, as well as their resistance to wear. As well as lab tests we do field tests - some measured and others based on the testers' opinions - to really put the product through its paces. The result is a tested, proven product.

Good all round scooter but hand brake is rubbish
Kelly (United Kingdom) Used for 3 to 6 months
I bought this to scoot around with my kids at the park/around town. It's decent and adjusts to a good height for other users. The downside for me is the hand break. It's not great - Gives just a minimum amount of drag, and if you hit the back wheel break and the hand break together, the hand break hardly tightens.
Excellent adult scooter

Great scooter, looked at a few and this is very well made and good value for money.
Great starter adult scooter
PENNIE (United Kingdom) Used for 7 to 12 months
So I've had this scooter since April and here are my thoughts, when it was delivered it was packaged well, and it was already set up and ready to go except the kick stand which was easy to install. I'm 5'9 so I set my scooter to the highest height which is great. The breaks are good and I find it easy to kick. Even though it says suspension it can still be a bit bumpy depending on the roads/pavements which can make your leg a bit numb. I found my hands getting a bit sore on the handlebars after a while but I can shrug it off. It folds nicely and is great if you want to store it in your house or shed and take it in the car so you have it on hand. I try not to ride it in the rain or wet surfaces as the breaks do not work. If you do get caught out in the rain, do take care and go slowly so you don't need to use the breaks. It can go over small stones and sticks but avoid pot holes, big cracks on the pavement and watch out for the curbs. Thankfully it's easy to hop off and hop back on again. If you are starting out, this is a great adult scooter and I highly recommend it. It made me get into scooting and it's a joy to ride down a hill with.
Wheels and suspension.

It is ten days since I own this scooter now, used only for four days and both rear-wheel and rear suspension are very annoyingly squeaking. Makes the whole riding experience awful, doesn't worth £99...
Response of the brand

Hi Dmitrij,

Sorry to hear you find issues with the product purchased. I will suggest you to put a bit of grease on it to avoid the squeaking noise. If this continues, feel free to go back your local store for them to check it or to return it.

Thanks,

Adrian

Poor manafacture
Jo (United Kingdom) Used for 1 week or less
Just got home after buying an Oxelo scooter, I wanted 2 but they only had one left, got it straight out of the box and on the first roll on our dining room floor I could hear and feel a rubbing noise.
On inspection I could see that the front mud guard was rubbing on the wheel on one side, the front fork bracket that holds the wheel wasn’t straight it hadn’t been aligned correctly at the factory, therefore the mudguard sits off center rubbing the wheel.
Continual use would wear out the wheel dramatically on one side.
I wonder if this has been a problem with other scooters that have resulted in collapsed wheels?
It just makes me mad that now I have to make the journey all the way back to town ( at my expense) to take it back and I know that Decathlon have no more stock, so I will just get a feeble apology and my money credited back. What a waste of 4 hours!
Response of the brand

Hi Jo,

Sorry for the inconveniences of purchasing a defective product. It's so unfortunate the scooter wasn't properly assembled. I will send this feedback to the brand, so they can follow up these issues with the factory.

Adrian

Poor quality, find out once warranty expire
Stefano (United Kingdom) Used for More than 2 years
I bought this scooter for my 7 yrs old son who has been using to go to school for the past 2-3 years.
Initial good impression faded away when at first the folding mechanism detached itself while riding as apparently I was told they can become loose.
I know it wasn't obviously loose when he started riding ... anyway bought spare part - hard to find - and worked again.
Few month ago in the morning when lifting it to leave home the front wheel and headset was loose and exposed the bottom bearings.
I checked online and it looks like it was possible to repair. When the shop in High Street Ken reopen I took it after checking first on the phone. After 10 days hear nothing, then after a call I am told that they still has to look at it, then called back and told is a write off as not worth to repair at £65 and in any case have no spare parts and want me to take it back. So you pay £100 pound for a metal scooter than won't last you 3 years ... when ask I am told that metal is no longer as good as it was 30 years ago...wear and tear! Come on it has been looked after and my son normally doesn't trash things, wheels are still in good conditions. I frankly believe that you just push for a sale and no wonder that our planet no longer can take our rubbish..... I also don't believe in their quote as replacement parts i calculated to be less than 20 pounds (front suspension £8, £2.50 headset, plus bearings) and a you tube video clearly show that is not a long job. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=k0D3Y0HxT74.
I am done with decathlon products...quick sale no support!
Response of the brand

Hi Stefano,

I will message you in private to follow up on this issue.

Be careful.
Roland (United Kingdom) Used for 7 to 12 months
Bought this Sept 2019. Today, as i was on my way out to get a bulb, after about 150m out my property before hitting the main road, the wheel came off! I saw myself falling in slow motion. Thank God i wasn't hurt badly. I only take the scooter on school runs (2 times a week) and to the post office.
As the Decathlon shop was opened today, i decided to take it in to get a replacement.
The guy at the workshop said that he will need to inspect and send it for repair which i was a little apprehensive after what happened. I lost confidence in the built quality. After much consideration, one of them said that i can get a replacement or if i want another model, i need to pay the difference.
A discount was later offered to me after they realised that the scooter was faulty (inner rod broke). To cut the chase, i bought the OXELO Town 9 EF V2 Adult Scooter and was told that this is more robust. Fingers crossed. Hopefully i don't break neck and limbs in future as the experience has caused me to have anxieties rather than trust, reliability and confidence.

Excellent
Abbie (United Kingdom) Used for 7 to 12 months
Excellent scooter used for a while now and nothing is wrong everything is perfect and love the colour.
Oxelo town7
Christopher (United Kingdom) Used for 1 week or less
I bought this to replace the old oxelo 7 town scooter and despite this new one having a much fancier design and a hand brake it's not as good. The old oxelo is 3 years old and a smoother ride than this new design. It's not a bad scooter by any means, if I hadn't tried the old one I'd be none the wiser!
Love it
Joanne (United Kingdom) Used for 1 week or less
I bought this scooter last week and love it.

It gives you a good workout; is fun and saves the environment at the same time.

I use it for short trips and my son and I love going out for scooter rides together.

Only negative is It says on the website that it comes with a carry strap but I didn’t get one with mine!
