Fleece component: Insulation thanks to air
The fleece component is designed to trap air in the space formed by its texture; this air acts as a natural insulator, keeping the body warm. It is the brushing of the knit fabric that traps the air.
Reduced environmental impact
Did you know that a plastic bottle takes 100 to 1,000 years to biodegrade? We developed a fleece knit made of recycled polyester. It comes from recycled industrial scraps and plastic bottles (recycled polyester from 65% bottles and 35% recycled threads).
Using recycled polyester means we can avoid using new oil-based resources. Waste is transformed into new, usable resources.
Durability of the components
We conduct numerous laboratory tests to validate the highest standards in terms of durability: a resistance test to abrasion and friction to ensure that the fleece does not pill, a colour fastness test to check the behaviour and resistance of the colours and an ageing test to check that repeated washing does not alter the properties of the fabric, its behaviour, its thickness or its appearance
A score for comparing the products' environmental impact
Decathlon is the first French company to implement environmental ratings. These ratings has been developed with the ADEME (French Environment and Energy Management Agency) as well as other French companies. The ratings are used to assess the environmental impact of product thanks to a scale from A to E with A being the best rating.
