Forclaz Rain overtrousers for protecting the lower body to complete an effective rain protection outfit designed for mountain walks. Care products: waterproof spray or liquid in the machine, to renew the fabric's water repellent properties and optimise performance throughout the lifetime of your garment.
Component waterproofing
The resistance of a fabric is measured using water pressure expressed in water column mm (test based on ISO 811). The higher the pressure, the more waterproof the fabric. Components with a 2000 mm rating can withstand the pressure of a 2000 mm column of water (which is equivalent to a rain shower lasting two hours).
Waterproofing of the garment
This garment was passed following a 3-hour shower test under 100 L of water/sqm/hr. This test reproduces the conditions of a violent storm in the mountains.
Component breathability
In addition to the breathability of the fabrics used, Quechua develops technical solutions (zips, ventilation, mesh, etc.) to improve the overall ventilation of its trekking jackets and overtrousers designed for great hiking use (Forclaz, Bionnassay and Helium lines). These ventilation systems can be used to regulate the temperature inside the garment as well as eliminate the perspiration generated by the body during physical activity.
Component with coating or a membrane
The coating is like a layer of "paint" applied on the underside of the fabric to make it waterproof while remaining breathable. It is often less costly than a membrane, and requires a lining for protection. The membrane is a kind of very fine plastic film (polyurethane) that makes the component waterproof and maintains its breathability. It has the advantage of being more flexible, lightweight, durable and often more breathable than the coating.
3-layer, 2-layer or 2.5-layer component
3 layers: the membrane is bonded between the outer and inner layer of the component. This construction helps the membrane last longer and enhances the component's performance. 2 layers: the membrane is only bonded to the outer fabric, while the inner protective lining is loose. This construction costs less but is generally more cumbersome. 2.5 layers: the membrane is protected on the inside by a kind of varnish coating rather than an actual layer to make it as lightweight as possible
Water repellent property of the component
A fabric’s water repellent property is what makes water run off its surface without absorbing it. This prevents the fabric from absorbing water, thus keeping it lightweight, breathable and warm. The fabric is made water repellent by treating its outer surface. This treatment must be renewed throughout the garment's lifetime (recommended after every three washes). All Quechua waterproof jackets have received a water-repellent treatment.

Great waterproof
Used for 1 week or less
Have had to purchase a small mens waterproof for my 13 year old - similar size to 14-15 kids but far far better fit around the bottom and neck
Decent waterproof coat
Used for 2 to 8 weeks
Like the coat, like the look but the zip can stick and is not the best.
Excellent Quality
Used for 2 to 8 weeks
Really good jacket and got the matching hiking shoes also. Really good quality and really good fit.
better than the expensive brands
Used for 2 to 8 weeks
I checked out a lot of other coats before buying, this was the cheapest but not inferior. Feels the same quality of the main outdoor brands and other reviews swayed it for me. Not tested in rain yet but warmerthan you would think and keeps wind out. Will be wearing in the lakes later in the year for full test!
This is the best Rain Jacket of this kind
Used for More than 1 year
I bought the second Jacket of the same model. It is the best choice of this kind of jackets.
Great jacket
Used for 2 to 8 weeks
Great sizing
I love it
Really waterproof jacket
Used for 3 to 6 months
High-quality jacket for a great price. Very waterproof, with useful underarm vents and nice adjustable cuffs and hood.
Excellent jacket
Used for 2 to 8 weeks
Very comfortable, waterproof jacket, also windproof, good adjustments, really good value for money, acurate sizing
Used for 2 to 8 weeks
This jacket was a fantastic buy. I bought this to go climbing Munro's in Scotland in late October. We had seven hours on the hills in 40-50 mph winds and sleeting rain. My Saloman boots gave in and leaked, my Skinz gloves were like a sponge, but this jacket kept me dry throughout, amazing value for the price. I had two layers underneath and fine whilst walking but needed an extra fleece layer when standing around. I am also using this for Adventure racing as it is light and breathable so well worth the money.
Excellent craftsmanship and value
Used for 2 to 8 weeks
I am thoroughly impressed by the craftsmanship of this jacket - it is at par with premium brands such as Arcteryx or Mountain Hardwear. Highly functional piece of gear - pockets and ventilation are very well thought out. The value is unbeatable, well done, Decathlon!
