Technical Informations

Laboratory Testing
We carry out laboratory tests to validate all component parts: fabric, buckles, straps, foam and zips. For example, for fabric: resistance to wear, tearing, colour-fastness under UV rays, washing, waterproofing. A final test on the finished product simulates the kind of treatment to which it will be subjected over several years, to assess the strength of the assembly: the backpack is weighted then placed on a dummy which then reproduces the movement of fast walking over thousands of cycles.
10-year guarantee, technical partnership
The heavy stitching research and development department, Quechua's partner for researching and testing its components and assemblies, conducted tests simulating backpack ageing. The tests focused on components, seams and the end product. As a result of these tests, Quechua can guarantee all bags tested for a duration of 10 years from the date of purchase indicated on the sales receipt.
10-year guarantee, conditions
The guarantee covers any backpack faults, except those caused by normal wear and tear and improper use. This special 10-year guarantee will only be granted upon presentation of the product and sales receipt. If the product is covered by the guarantee, it will be repaired or exchanged free of charge. This commercial guarantee does not affect any statutory guarantees that are applicable in the country of purchase.
How is volume measured?
The volume of each backpack is measured using a standardised method: we fill the main compartment as well as each pocket with little balls. Then we empty these balls into a graduated container, which gives the equivalent volume in litres.
How to adjust your backpack?
1 - Loosen all the straps (straps, hip belt, load adjuster straps). 2 - Put the backpack on. 3 - For backpacks with a capacity of 50 L or more, place the hip belt correctly (it should sit over the pelvis) and tighten it. For smaller backpacks, the belt should be placed around the waist. 4 -Tighten the shoulder straps. 5 - Adjust the load adjuster straps as needed.
How to pack backpack?
Put your bedding at the bottom. Place heavy gear (tent, camp stove, food) near your back. Pack your clothes around these items. The groundsheet should be placed under the flap and the tent beneath the pack if there is no space inside. Keep a rainproof jacket and fleece close at hand. Place small items for daily use (sun cream, map, glasses etc.) in the pockets. If carrying a hydration pack (water bladder), this should be placed in its special pocket along the back.
Environmental measures
The environmental impact of the product is calculated over the entire lifecycle of the product using different indicators. An overall rating of ABCDE is provided to help you easily identify products with the best environmental performance by comparing products of the same type with each other (t-shirts, trousers and backpacks). Decathlon is a voluntary actor in this environmental labellling process. For further information: http://sustainability.decathlon.com/

Test Product
All our models are tested by users representative of our target market in conditions identical to those you encounter yourself when using them. We believe that carrying out 'real-life' testing is the only way to design and continuously advance the technical relevance and design of all our Quechua products.

Stockage Tips
Store the backpack in a dry place.

Maintenance Tips
To ensure materials retain their properties (especially waterproofing), we recommend you do not machine wash, tumble dry, dry-clean, or bleach your backpack. Do not iron. To clean your backpack by hand, use warm soapy water and a brush if needed. After a few years of use, you should renew the water repellent properties of the fabric using a waterproofing spray.

Great rucksack
Used for 2 to 8 weeks
Great rucksack. Great price.
Roomy and well stitched together
Used for 2 to 8 weeks
I like the size, the design, the colours. It's well stitched together & comes with a 10 year warranty. Easy to access the main compartment. Padded straps and back. Quick lock & release fasteners all around. Adjustable. What's not to like?
Great for thePrice
Used for 2 to 8 weeks
Pleantly of compartments
My new daily day pack.
Used for 2 to 8 weeks
Bought to replace my smaller heavier backpack. This has more capacity but is light and can be flattened for carrying in travel luggage. Side pockets for water bottles were a major reason for buying.
Nice Bag
Used for 2 to 8 weeks
Bargain price for a good bag, a lot of bag for the price.
Colours are nothing like the description
Used for 1 week or less
This bag appears black in the photo and is described as black in the description. In reality it is medium grey and orange which is very disappointing. Fabric seems quite thin but then you would expect that for the price.
no secure closing
the upper part could include a zip or something that ensures proper closing of the backpack
Used for 2 to 8 weeks
On holiday it’s been great, plenty of room for everything, and comfortable to carry for long periods!
A great back pack
Used for 2 to 8 weeks
Brought for trip to Italy wanting to travel light. Very strongeas blown away from the quality and the thought to the design
Poor Quality Product
Used for 2 to 8 weeks
I bought this rucksack to use on holiday, and was really disappointed. It split at the join between the main pack and expander top section, and the stitching has come out on one of the shoulder straps. Looking at the bag against bright light, you can see the potential for the fabric to fray at the joins in several areas. I know it wasn't expensive, but I would not recommend this bag. I wish I had spent more money on one of better quality/more durable, but you don't know until you use the bag. I live quite far away from the Decathlon store where I bought the bag, but will be returning it for a full refund.
Response of the brand
Good evening,

I am sorry that you have experienced this issue with the Arpenaz 30 litre backpack. All our Quechua backpacks come with a 10 year warranty. I am sorry if this one has not come up to our usual standard and started to fray early. If you contact your local store with proof of purchase, they should be able to help you out.
